Original hard shell case in very good condition also for its age. Tuners fully functional with ivoroid buttons. I can't say for 100% sure it's all original, but it all looks aesthetically matching and is functional. Hardware all looks great with nothing missing. The neck is nice and smooth to the hands, with original ivoroid binding smoothed from playing. Fingerboard is good and clean with no pits. This website is your headquarters for serial. Skinny frets has some minor wear but not enough to warrant replacing. The Gibson Mastertone banjo set a standard of excellence among four-string players beginning in the jazz era of the 1920s and has been the definitive banjo for bluegrass music ever since five-string virtuoso Earl Scruggs came to prominence as a member of Bill Monroes Blue Grass Boys in the 1940s. Stamp on dowel stick reads "Fairbanks Banjo made by the Vega Company Boston, Mass." There are two five-point star stamps on either side, plus "LITTLE WONDER" and the serial number again. The pot is 10 1/8" with serial number 39072. It is in overall very great and nearly original shape for its age, being over a century old. I had our local expert luthier John Joyner freshly set it up to get it as playable as is possible for a banjolin from the early 1900's. This little banjolin plays just fine, with good projection and that unique antique sound.
